Luxury Sustainability Reimagined
Who says shopping luxury fashion can't also be sustainable? And who says sustainable fashion can't also look good, feel good, and be luxurious?
There has been, for such a long time, a stigma attached to sustainable fashion. When you think of sustainable fashion, a lot of people immediately think of granola-fashion, suitable for the outdoors, and not really trendy or cute.
That's where we come in.
When you think of the word luxury, luxury fashion means providing a luxury service and a luxury experience.
If you're anything like me, I spend a lot of time doing research on products before I purchase them. It is so important to know where your product is coming from, what it's made of (read on!), who and where the product is made (Portland, OR, by me!).
Fortunately, you don't have to do too much work, if any at all, to find out all about Ale O ーyou have the luxury (hehe) to feel confident knowing the ins and outs of your piece.
We believe that sustainable fashion can ALSO be luxurious, and vice versa.
There are so many different terms people use when defining "sustainable" fashion, because it means something different for everyone!
We only have one earth, and we have to do what we can to minimize a negative impact!
This means using less of polyesters, rayon, cotton, and nylons... instead, opt for clothing that have a traceable history and use less resources to make.
I pride myself in using sustainable materials such as hemp, recycled materials, organic linen and cottonー in order to minimize our impact on the Earth. These fabrics are all ethically sourced, and use less water, harmful pollutants, and other harmful additives than other fabrics, without sacrificing quality
Hemp
Why hemp?
Hemp needs zero pesticides or chemicals to grow and uses about half the water needed to grow organic cotton. Both hemp and organic cotton are biodegradable. Hemp is an amazing alternative to polyesters and cottons because it is a fast growing crop that also has many
additional uses! They've been using it for centuries, and it makes sense why. Hemp is a strong and breathable fabric that allows for many different styles to come alive and bring you Ale O.
Organic Cotton
Why Organic cotton?
Organic cotton is grown without the use of any pesticides or any other chemicals which is huge! Organic cotton not grown with the use of pesticides may be the #1 benefit to switching to organic cotton.
Recycled Fabrics
Using recycled materials?
Using recycled materials doesn't mean our fabrics are "used" and dingy looking. This just means repurposing fabrics and scraps when we can. There is less impact on the environment when we reuse what is already available to us.
